Holiday Cranberry Relish - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. water
    3 cloves garlic
    1 stick cinnamon
    4 c. cranberries (1 lb. pkg.)
    1/2 orange, finely chopped
    1/4 c. cognac (brandy)
Preparation
    Bring sugar and water to a boil for about 3 minutes.
    Add remaining ingredients except cognac.
    Cook over low heat until cranberries start popping.
    Stir occasionally.
    Remove from heat. Add cognac and chill.
    Recipe may be doubled or tripled.
