Italian Cream Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 stick butter
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 c. sugar
    5 egg yolks
    2 c. flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 can coconut
    1 c. nuts
    5 egg whites, beaten
Preparation
    Combine butter, shortening and sugar; beat until smooth.
    Beat egg yolks; add to mixture.
    Combine flour, soda, vanilla, buttermilk and egg whites; add to mixture.
    Fold in the coconut and nuts.
    You may wish to save some of the coconut to go on the frosting.
    Bake at 350\u00b0.
    Makes 3 layers or 1 oblong cake.
