Caramels - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. brown sugar
    1 c. butter
    1 c. light Karo
    1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
    1 can Eagle Brand milk
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Mix all ingredients, except vanilla.
    Bring to boil, stirring constantly, until candy reaches soft ball stage or 245\u00b0 on a candy thermometer.
    Stir in vanilla.
    Pour into greased jelly roll pan. Let cool, then cut and wrap in waxed paper.
