Ice Water Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 lb. cucumbers, sliced
    8 white onions, sliced
    2 sweet red peppers, cut in strips
    3 cloves garlic
    1/3 c. kosher salt (regular)
    4 c. white vinegar
    5 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. mustard seed
    2 tsp. celery seed
Preparation
    Put cucumbers, onions, red peppers and garlic in a large bowl. Cover with ice cubes and let stand 3 hours.
    Drain vegetables and remove garlic, if desired.
    Make syrup by combining vinegar, sugar, mustard seed and celery seed.
    Pour equal amounts of syrup into 2 large pots and bring to a boil.
    Add drained vegetables and bring to a rolling boil.
    Pack into hot sterilized jars.
    Fill to brim and seal.
