Tom Thumb Cookie Bars - cooking recipe

1/2 c. vegetable shortening
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. brown sugar, divided
1 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs, well beaten
2 Tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 c. shredded coconut
1 c. nuts, coarsely chopped
Preparation

Combine shortening and salt. Add 1/2 cup brown sugar and cream thoroughly. Add 1 cup of flour and blend. Spread mixture in greased and floured 8 x 12-inch pan. Bake 15 minutes at 325\u00b0 or until delicately browned.
