Raisin Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. raisins
    3 c. cold water
    2 1/2 c. brown sugar
    1 c. butter or lard
    1/2 c. cocoa (fill with hot water)
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. cloves or allspice
    2 tsp. soda
    5 c. flour (self-rising)
Preparation
    Mix first 4 ingredients in a saucepan.
    Let boil 5 minutes, then partially cool.
    Mix in remaining ingredients.
    Bake until sides leave pan.
    Don't overbake.
    Makes a large cake.
    Add frosting.
