Fudge Brownies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. margarine or butter
    1 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
    3/4 c. sugar
    2/3 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1/4 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    2 eggs
    1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)
    1/2 c. chocolate chips (optional)
Preparation
    Heat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Grease bottom only of 8 x 8 x 2-inch square pan with shortening.
    Heat margarine and 1 cup chocolate chips in 2-quart saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly until melted; remove from heat.
    Stir together flour, baking powder and salt.
    Add to pan along with egg and vanilla.
    Stir with large spoon until smooth.
    Stir in nuts and chips; spread in pan with rubber spatula.
    Bake until center is set, about 30 minutes.
    Let cool completely, then cut into squares.
    Store tightly covered.
