Aunt Bill'S Microwave Candy - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk
3/4 c. butter or margarine
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. chopped pecans
Preparation

Combine sugar, soda, buttermilk and butter.
Cover with plastic wrap.
Punch holes in wrap.
Microwave for 2 1/2 minutes.
Stir and turn dish.
Continue cooking for 15 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes.
Return to oven for 2 minutes or until soft ball forms in cold water or it tests 236\u00b0 on candy thermometer (do not put thermometer in microwave).
Add vanilla and beat with electric mixer until soft peaks form.
Stir in pecans and spread in 12 x 7-inch dish.
Cool and cut into pieces.
The container needs to be about 3 times the amount of the ingredients or it may boil over.
I cooked mine on the High temperature in a large Corning Ware dish.
