Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 gal. sliced cucumbers
8 sliced onions
3 c. white vinegar
2 c. water
5 c. sugar
1/4 c. salt
1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
2 tsp. mustard seed
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1 tsp. celery seed
Preparation

Mix ingredients, except cukes and onions, then add cukes and onions.
Bring just to boiling point, lifting cukes and turning them over with a spoon as slices begin to curl.
Pack in sterilized jars and seal.
Do not use the same ingredients for second batch. Always make fresh.
Measure cukes in gallon jar, adding an extra cuke for 5 pints.
