Chocolate Snaps - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
    1 2/3 c. flour
    1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1 egg
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/4 lb. butter (room temperature)
    1/2 c. sugar plus more for dredging
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1/4 c. light Karo syrup
Preparation
    Melt chips and cool.
    Combine flour, soda and salt.
    With electric mixer on medium-low, beat butter and sugar until fluffy. Add vanilla, Karo and egg and continue mixing until well blended. Refrigerate until firm, about 30 minutes.
    Shape dough into 1-inch balls and roll in additional sugar.
    Put on ungreased cookie sheet about 1 inch apart.
    Bake until edges are lightly browned, 10 to 15 minutes.
    Let stand 1 minute, then remove.
