Trifle - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 sponge cake (3 or 4 days old)
    2/3 c. sherry
    2 c. berries (strawberries or raspberries)
    1 c. heavy cream, whipped
    1 pkg. instant vanilla pudding mix
Preparation
    Pour sherry over cake and set aside.
    Save a few berries to slice for garnish.
    Crush remainder of berries and chill in refrigerator.
    Make instant pudding as per directions.
    In large glass bowl, line bottom of bowl with cake slices.
    Spread with chilled berries; pour on pudding.
    Chill.
    Sprinkle with slivered almonds.
    Top with berries and whipped cream.
