Blonde Brownies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. flour
    1/4 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    2/3 c. shortening
    2 c. packed brown sugar
    2 eggs, beaten
    2 tsp. vanilla
    2 to 3 Tbsp. hot water
    1/2 to 3/4 c. chopped walnuts
    4 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Melt shortening; add brown sugar.
    Cool slightly.
    Add eggs to shortening mix; blend.
    Add vanilla; mix well.
    Gradually add flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Use the hot water to help blend.
    Add walnuts if desired.
    Grease 13 x 9-inch pan.
    Spread in batter.
    Sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 20 to 25 minutes.
