Tom'S Plain Tomato Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 large cans crushed tomatoes
    2 large cans pear shaped Italian peeled tomatoes
    1 onion
    1 1/2 tsp. basil
    1/2 tsp. oregano
    3 cloves garlic
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    salt and pepper
    olive oil
    butter or margarine
Preparation
    In a pot, add 1 onion finely chopped to hot oil with a dash of butter until the onion turns yellow and soft.
    Add 4 cans of tomatoes (2 crushed, 2 pear shaped) and a small amount of water, 1/2 cup or so.
    Mash tomatoes with masher and add 1 1/2 teaspoons of basil and 1/2 teaspoon oregano to pot.
    Bring to slight boil and simmer.
    Chop up 3 cloves of garlic and add to sauce.
    Add 1 tablespoon sugar and salt and pepper to taste.
    Add a little more olive oil and cook on low for 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
    Add more sugar if needed.
