Crispy Southern Fried Chicken - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (2 1/2 lb.) frying chicken, cut into pieces
    1 egg
    1/4 c. oil
    2 tsp. salt
    1/2 inch oil for frying
    2/3 c. water
    2 tsp. sugar
    3/4 ??? regular flour
Preparation
    Beat together egg, water and 1/4 cup Crisco oil.
    Add sugar, salt and flour; mix until smooth.
    Dip chicken one piece at a time into batter.
    Fry for about 25 to 30 minutes in an uncovered skillet which contains 1/2 inch of oil, heated to 365\u00b0 to 375\u00b0. Turn chicken often for even browning.
