Kidney Bean Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 cans kidney beans, drained
    8 strips bacon (uncooked)
    3 medium onions, finely chopped
    1 (14 oz.) bottle ketchup (9 hot, if available)
    1 c. dark brown sugar, firmly packed
    2 medium fresh tomatoes, chopped
Preparation
    Place 4 slices bacon in bottom of 9 x 13 x 2-inch pan or a 3-quart casserole.
    Cover with 2 cans of beans.
    Layer on top, in order:
    onions, peppers and tomatoes.
    Cover with rest of the beans.
    Sprinkle sugar on top.
    Place 4 slices of bacon over the mixture.
    Pour ketchup over all.
    Bake in a 350\u00b0 oven for 1 hour, uncovered.
    Cover; bake an additional 1 hour.
