Green Tomato Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 gal. chopped green tomatoes
    2 to 3 qt. sliced onions
    1 pt. peppers or 2 to 3 qt. bell peppers
    1/4 c. salt
    2 qt. vinegar
    8 c. sugar
Preparation
    Bring vinegar, salt and sugar to a boil.
    Add tomatoes, onions and peppers.
    Heat thoroughly, but do not boil.
    Cook over medium heat until tomatoes can be pierced with a toothpick easily.
    Put in hot, clean jars and seal immediately.
