Sauerbraten A La Wenonah - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. white vinegar
    1 c. chili sauce
    3 Tbsp. packed brown sugar
    2 tsp. salt
    1 (5 lb.) brisket
    2 large onions, sliced thin
    2 c. water
Preparation
    Mix vinegar, chili sauce, brown sugar and salt in a large bowl.
    Add brisket.
    Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight, turning brisket over once.
    Place meat in 4 to 5-quart casserole.
    Pour marinade over meat.
    Top with onions.
    Pour in water.
    Cover and bake 2 hours, basting twice.
    Remove cover and bake 45 to 60 minutes more, until meat is fork-tender.
    Let stand 10 minutes and slice.
