Buttermilk Fudge - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. buttermilk
    2 c. sugar
    3 Tbsp. white corn syrup
    1 tsp. baking soda
Preparation
    Combine buttermilk and soda and let stand for 5 minutes.
    Pour into deep 4-quart, stainless steel pot.
    Add sugar and syrup. Slowly bring to boil, stirring constantly, and bring to soft ball stage.
    Remove pan from heat and let cool slightly.
    Beat with wooden spoon (you may use a hand mixer, but be careful as it will set up quickly) until smooth and creamy and reaches butterscotch color.
    With spoon, swirl into mounds on wax paper.
    Let cool, then store in airtight container.
