Slovenian Harvest Chili - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 lb. uncooked smoked sausage or kielbasi
    1 1/2 lb. lean ground beef
    1 1/2 c. chopped onion
    1 1/2 c. chopped green pepper
    1 1/2 c. chopped celery
    2 cloves garlic, crushed
    3 (1 lb.) cans crushed or stewed tomatoes
    3 (15 oz.) can kidney beans, drained
    1 tsp. Tabasco sauce or to taste
    2 Tbsp. chili powder or to taste
    1 Tbsp. ground cumin
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    2 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
    1 c. bottled barbecue sauce
Preparation
    Cook sausages in boiling water until done, 10 to 12 minutes. Slice thin.
    In heavy 5 to 6-quart Dutch oven or stockpot, brown sausage slices and ground beef, stirring to separate beef into small pieces.
    Remove meats from pan.
    Saute onion, green pepper, celery and garlic in remaining fat in pan.
    Spoon off excess fat. Return meats to pan.
    Add tomatoes, barbecue sauce, kidney beans and seasonings.
    Heat to boiling, reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, 50 minutes, stirring occasionally.
    Serve topped with cheese.
    Makes 16 cups.
