Stuffed Whole Cabbage - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 medium head cabbage
    1/2 c. dry bread crumbs
    1/4 c. evaporated milk
    1/4 c. water
    1 lb. hamburger
    1 slice bacon, cooked and chopped
    1 onion, chopped
    1 egg
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
Preparation
    Remove core from head of cabbage; cut out the inside, leaving a hollow shell.
    (Save center for use in slaw, etc.)
    Soak crumbs in milk and water; add remaining ingredients and mix well.
    Fill cabbage with meat mixture and tie it up in a piece of cheesecloth. Put cabbage in large pot of boiling, salted water; boil for 25 minutes.
    Cut in wedges and serve with tomato sauce, if desired. A chopped green pepper may be added to mixture.
