Strawberry Heaven - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 lb. vanilla wafers, crushed
    1/2 c. softened butter
    1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
    1/2 pt. Cool Whip
    1 qt. strawberries, crushed (reserve juice)
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 eggs, separated
Preparation
    Line a 9 x 13-inch pan with all but 1/4 wafer crumbs.
    Cream butter and sugar together; add beaten egg yolks.
    Fold in beaten egg whites and vanilla.
    Add strawberry juice; cook to custard stage.
    Pour mixture into pan on top of crumbs.
    Place strawberries on top of mixture.
    Spread Cool Whip over strawberries and sprinkle with remaining crumbs.
    Refrigerate overnight.
