Grandma'S Mincemeat - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 lb. lean boiled beef, chopped
    1/2 lb. beef kidney suet, chopped
    3 3/4 raw apples, pared and chopped
    1/2 lb. currants
    1 lb. raisins
    1 Tbsp. salt
    grated rind of 2 lemons
    5 c. brown sugar
    3 Tbsp. cinnamon
    2 tsp. nutmeg
    1/2 tsp. ground cloves
    5 c. cider
Preparation
    Combine all ingredients in large heavy pan.
    Simmer very gently for 2 hours.
    Stir occasionally.
    Sufficient for 5 (9-inch) pies.
