Pickled Onions - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 qt. pickling onions
    2/3 c. salt
    1 1/3 c. sugar
    3 Tbsp. yellow mustard seed
    2 Tbsp. prepared horseradish
    1 1/2 qt. distilled white vinegar
    dried hot peppers
    bay leaf
Preparation
    Place onions in large saucepan; cover with water.
    Bring to boiling and simmer 2 minutes; drain.
    Plunge into cold water and peel.
    Put onions in large bowl; sprinkle with salt.
    Cover with cold water.
    Let stand for 12 to 18 hours; drain and rinse well.
