Mother'S Fruit Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. butter
    2 c. sugar
    6 eggs
    4 c. flour (cake flour sifted, then measure)
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 lb. candied cherries (red and green)
    1/2 lb. candied pineapple
    1 lb. chopped pecans (1 qt. or more)
    2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cream butter and sugar; add eggs 1 at a time, beating well after each.
    Add 3 cups flour, baking powder, salt and vanilla. Mix remaining 1 cup flour with fruit and coat well.
    Add to batter; mix well.
    Pour in tube pan that has been lined and greased with brown paper.
    Bake at 250\u00b0 for 3 hours or until toothpick comes out clean.
    Allow cake to cool in pan.
