Broccoli Cheese Strata(Prize Winning Recipe Of Lorraine Pauley) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    12 slices white bread, frozen or dried
    3/4 lb. sharp cheese, diced
    1 (10 oz.) pkg. chopped broccoli, cooked and drained
    2 c. finely diced, cooked ham (optional)
    6 slightly beaten eggs
    3 to 3 1/4 c. milk
    2 Tbsp. minced onion
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. dry mustard
Preparation
    Trim crusts from bread; cut 12 \"doughnuts\" and holes from slices.
    Use bread scraps to line bottom of 13 x 9-inch greased casserole.
    Put cheese over bread.
    Add layer of broccoli, then layer of ham.
    Put \"doughnuts\" and holes on top.
    Combine eggs, milk, mustard, onion and salt and pour over casserole. Refrigerate at least 6 hours or overnight.
    Bake, uncovered, in a slow oven at 325\u00b0 for 55 minutes.
    If desired, sprinkle with shredded cheese 5 minutes before baking time ends.
