French Toast Casserole - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 Tbsp. white Karo syrup
1/2 c. margarine
1 c. brown sugar
12 slices bread, cut in half
5 eggs
1 1/2 c.milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
Preparation

Combine syrup, margarine and brown sugar in saucepan.
Cook over medium heat until syrupy.
Do not boil!
Pour into 9 x 13-inch pan (glass preferred).
Layer bread over syrup.
Beat together until foamy eggs, milk, vanilla and salt.
Pour over bread.
Cover pan with foil and refrigerate overnight.
Remove foil to bake. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 minutes.
When done, let set 5 minutes. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
Cut into squares and serve.
May be topped with strawberries, blueberries or other fresh fruit. Doesn't need syrup or butter.
