Taffy Apple Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. chopped red Delicious apples, unpeeled
    1 (8 oz.) can crushed pineapple, drained (reserve juice)
    1 c. salted peanuts
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. cider vinegar
    1 egg, beaten
    1 (8 oz.) container Cool Whip, thawed
    1 Tbsp. cornstarch
Preparation
    Place apples, drained pineapple and nuts in bowl; mix. Combine cornstarch, sugar, vinegar and reserved pineapple juice. Cook over low heat for 1 minute, then add beaten egg.
    Cook until thick.
    Cool.
    When cool, stir in apple mixture and mix well. Fold in Cool Whip.
    Refrigerate 6 hours or overnight.
