Fresh Country Peas - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. shelled peas (about 2 lb. fresh peas in the pods)
    1 large onion, sliced
    2 Tbsp. water
    2 slices bacon, cut into 1-inch pieces
    1 Tbsp. margarine or bacon fat
    1 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
    1/2 tsp. sugar
    1/4 c. chicken broth
Preparation
    In
    1
    1/2
    quart microwavable casserole, combine peas, onion and
    water.
    Cover;
    vent
    and
    microwave on High 6 to 9 1/2 minutes,
    or just until vegetables are tender; set aside. In microwavable
    bowl,
    microwave
    bacon
    until crisp; drain. Discard fat if using margarine.
    Otherwise, leave 1 tablespoon fat in bowl;
    stir
    flour\tand
    sugar
    into margarine or fat. Stir in broth
    until
    smooth.
    Microwave sauce on High 1 to 2 minutes
    or until
    thick,
    stirring
    every 30 seconds.\tDrain water from vegetables and add sauce; toss to coat.
    Spoon into bowl; sprinkle with cooked bacon.\tServes 4.
