Cape Code Portuguese Fish Chowder, 1954 - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. salt pork (cubes)
    1 c. chopped onion
    3 c. diced potatoes
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. saffron
    1 Tbsp. vinegar
    2 lb. lean fish, cut in chunks
    pepper to taste
Preparation
    In deep kettle, fry pork cubes slowly, turning until only crisp pork bits remain.
    Remove and save.
