Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 c. sugar
    5 c. vinegar
    2 tsp. mustard seed
    1 tsp. celery seed
    1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
Preparation
    Slice one gallon cucumbers and 8 onions, let stand in salt water for 3 hours.
    Put one tray of ice over them and let stand until all the ice is melted.
    Put in saucepan and bring to a boil for 1 minute.
    Use wooden spoon for stirring.
    Put in jars and turn upside down.
    Makes 11 pints.
