Hamburg Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 lb. lean ground beef
    1 c. each: chopped onions, potatoes, carrots, celery and shredded cabbage
    2 large cans (4 c.) stewed tomatoes
    3 c. water
    1/4 c. barley or rice
    2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. basil
    1/4 tsp. thyme
    2 Tbsp. brown sugar
    pepper and parsley to taste
Preparation
    Brown and drain meat in large kettle.
    Add all but potatoes and cook until vegetables are nearly done.
    Add potatoes last 20 minutes.
