Ingredients

1/4 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. nuts (if desired)
pinch of salt
Preparation

Melt together the butter and brown sugar; let cool.
Add egg, flour, baking soda, salt, vanilla and nuts.
Pour into 8-inch square baking pan.
Bake at 325\u00b0 until firm (about 20 to 25 minutes).
Will look like brownies.
May double recipe for larger batch.
Yields 12 to 16 squares.
