Velvet Mashed Potato Chocolate Cake(Date 1868) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 medium potatoes
    2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. ground ginger
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. ground cinnamon
    1/4 c. unsweetened cocoa powder
    1 c. butter
    2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 c. finely chopped pecans
    1 c. raisins
    1 c. mashed potatoes
Preparation
    Peel the 2 medium potatoes; cover with water and boil unti tender, about 25 minutes.
    Mash thoroughly; do not add milk or seasonings.
    Measure out 1 cup; cover to keep warm and set aside. Preheat the oven to 300\u00b0.
