Essie'S Fruit Cobbler - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. soft butter
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 c. sifted flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. milk
    1 qt. fruit (your desire)
    1/4 to 1/2 c. sugar (depending on sweetness of fruit)
    1/2 c. fruit juice
Preparation
    Heat oven to 375\u00b0.
    Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
    Sift together flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture, alternately with milk.
    Beat until smooth.
    Pour into a greased loaf pan.
    Spoon drained fruit over batter. Sprinkle with sugar and juice.
    Bake 45 to 50 minutes.
    Serve with whipped cream or ice cream.
    Serves 6.
