Never Fail Fudge - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. evaporated milk
    1 Tbsp. butter
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 c. miniature marshmallows
    1 1/2 c. chocolate chips or peanut butter chips
Preparation
    Put sugar, cream, butter and salt in a heavy saucepan.
    Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly and bring to a rolling boil. Boil for 5 minutes.
    Remove from heat and add last 3 ingredients.
    Stir until marshmallows are melted.
    Pour into buttered 8-inch square pan.
    Chill.
    Add 1/2 cup chopped nuts, if desired.
