Southern Raised Biscuits - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. sugar
5 Tbsp. oil (corn or vegetable oil)
1 pkg. yeast
1 c. buttermilk, warmed
Preparation

Mix together the dry ingredients. Dissolve the yeast in slightly warmed buttermilk.
Combine dry ingredients, oil, yeast and buttermilk, stirring lightly and quickly until mixed. Turn onto a lightly floured board and knead gently about 20 to 30 times.
Roll out or pat to a 1/4-inch thickness.
Cut with a floured 1-inch biscuit cutter.
Place on ungreased baking sheet. Cover and let rise in a warm place for about 2 hours.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes.
