Muffins - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. flour
    3 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1 c. milk
    3 Tbsp. melted shortening
    1 egg, well beaten
Preparation
    Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar.
    Sift into bowl and make a well in the center.
    Beat egg; add shortening and milk.
    Pour liquid into well and stir until flour is moistened. Batter will be stiff; do not overbeat mixture.
    Fill greased muffin tins about 1/2 full.
    Bake 20 to 25 minutes in 425\u00b0 oven until lightly browned.
    Test for doneness with toothpick.
    Serve hot with butter.
    Makes 12 muffins.
