Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    30 med. cucumbers
    8 med. onions
    2 lg. red or green peppers
    1/2 c. salt
    5 c. sugar
    5 c. vinegar
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    1 tsp. turmeric
    1 tsp. whole cloves
    2 Tbsp. pickling spice
    1/4-1/2 tsp. ground cloves
    1/2 tsp. celery seed
Preparation
    Slice cucumbers into thin rings.
    Do not pare.
    Slice onions into thin rings.
    Cut peppers in fine strips.
    Dissolve salt in ice water and pour over sliced vegetables.
    Let stand 3 hours and then drain.
    Combine vinegar, sugar, and spices and bring to a boil.
    Add drained vegetables and heat just to boiling point.
    Do not boil.
    Pack into sterilized jars and seal.
