Favorite Peach Cobbler - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 lb. fresh, ripe peaches, peeled and sliced (about 3 c.)
    3/4 c. sugar
    1/4 tsp. ground mace
    1 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    3/4 c. milk
    2 eggs, lightly beaten
    6 Tbsp. butter
Preparation
    In medium bowl, toss peach slices, 1/4 cup sugar and mace to mix well.
    Set aside.
    In second bowl, combine flour, remaining 1/2 cup sugar and baking powder.
    Stir in milk and eggs, mixing just until blended.
    Place butter in a 9-inch square baking pan and place in 375\u00b0 oven until melted and hot.
    Remove pan from oven and immediately pour batter over butter.
    Spoon peach mixture evenly over batter.
    Bake 40 to 45 minutes, until puffed and brown.
    Serve warm, topped with vanilla ice cream, if desired. Makes 6 to 8 servings.
