Jane Brody'S Shrimp Sauce(Yum, Yum!) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 lb. raw, medium size shrimp
    1 Tbsp. olive oil
    1 medium onion, chopped (1/2 c.)
    2 cloves garlic, crushed
    1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes with juice
    1/8 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
    few dashes of cayenne
    1 tsp. dried basil
    1/4 tsp. salt (if desired)
    1/4 c. minced, fresh parsley
    grated Parmesan (optional)
Preparation
    Cut the shrimp in half lengthwise.
    Heat the oil in a medium skillet.
    Add the onion, garlic and shrimp and saute the ingredients, stirring, until the shrimp turn pink, about 5 minutes.
    Remove the shrimp and set them aside.
    Add the tomatoes and juice, black pepper, cayenne, basil and salt to the skillet. Bring the mixture to a boil, reduce the heat and simmer it, uncovered, for 5 minutes.
    Add the shrimp and parsley to the tomato mixture and serve the sauce over 3/4 pound of pasta with sprinkled Parmesan, if desired.
