Banana Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. flour
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    3/4 tsp. baking soda
    1 c. mashed ripe banana
    1/2 c. buttermilk or sour milk
    1/2 c. shortening or margarine
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 tsp. salt (optional)
Preparation
    In a bowl combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
    Add banana, buttermilk, shortening, eggs and vanilla.
    Beat with an electric mixer on low speed until combined.
    Beat on medium speed for 3 minutes.
    Pour batter into 2 greased and floured 8 x 1 1/2-inch or 9 x 1 1/2-inch round or 1 (9 x 13-inch) oblong pan. Bake in a 350\u00b0 oven for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
    Cool on racks for 10 minutes.
    Remove round cakes; cool on racks.
    Serves 12.
