Sugared Walnuts - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. shelled walnuts
    1 c. sugar
    dash of salt
    3 egg whites
    1/2 c. butter
Preparation
    Heat oven to 325\u00b0.
    Melt butter in a 15-1/2 inch x 10-1/2 inch pan with sides (a jelly roll pan or cookie sheet).
    Beat egg whites until stiff.
    Fold sugar and salt into whites.
    Fold in walnuts making sure they are all coated with the meringue.
    Spread mixture over butter in pan.
    Bake at 325\u00b0 for about an hour, stirring every 10 minutes, until meringue is brown and all the butter is gone.
    Cool and serve.
