Congo Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2/3 c. shortening
    1 box brown sugar (2 1/4 c.)
    3 eggs
    2 3/4 c. sifted flour
    2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. chopped nuts (optional)
    1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar; add eggs one at a time, beating well after each.
    Sift dry ingredients together and add.
    Add nuts and chocolate chips.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 25 to 30 minutes in a pan, 10 1/4 x 15 1/4-inch or bake for 35 minutes in a 9 x 13-inch pan. The smaller pan will make thicker bars.
