Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    7 lb. cucumbers
    2 c. lime
    2 gal. water
    2 qt. vinegar
    4 1/2 lb. sugar
    1 Tbsp. salt
    pickling spice
Preparation
    Cut cucumbers in slices.
    Put cucumbers and lime in water. Soak for 24 hours; rinse 3 times in cold water.
    Soak 3 hours in ice cold water; drain.
    Mix the vinegar, sugar, salt and pickling spice.
    Put cucumbers in to soak overnight.
    Boil for 35 minutes. Put in jars.
    Makes about 9 to 11 pints.
