Upside-Down Rubble Bubble Cake - cooking recipe

1 c. dates
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 c. boiling water
3/4 c. shortening
1 c. white sugar
2 eggs
1 3/4 c. flour
3/4 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
1 pkg. chocolate chips
nuts
Preparation

Combine dates, 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda and boiling water. Set aside to cool.
Cream shortening, white sugar and eggs; then add date mixture.
Stir in sifted flour, 3/4 teaspoon soda and salt.
Pour batter in greased pan.
Sprinkle topping of brown packed sugar, chocolate chips (regular size) and nuts over batter. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 40 to 45 minutes in oblong pan.
