"English" Custard - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. milk
    6 tsp. cornstarch
    2 tsp. vanilla
    2 egg yolks
Preparation
    Begin to heat the milk in a nonstick saucepan.
    Mix cornstarch with a small amount of milk, to form a thick paste.
    With a wooden spoon, mix the warm milk and cornstarch.
    Keep stirring until mixture thickens.
    Add beaten eggs and vanilla.
    Serve over apple pie or as desired.
    Add to dessert pies for a delicious \"hot\" sauce.
    Also good chilled.
