Mary Ann'S Turnips - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 lb. bacon, cut in pieces
    4 medium turnips, peeled and cubed
    1 small onion, finely chopped
    1/4 tsp. sugar
    salt and pepper to taste
    1/2 c. water
    1 Irish potato, finely chopped
Preparation
    In medium saucepan over medium heat, fry bacon for 2 minutes. Stir in turnips, onion, salt, pepper and water.
    Reduce heat and cook for 45 minutes, covered.
    Add potato and cook for 20 minutes more.
    Serves 4.
