Bermuda Fruitcake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 lb. butter
    1 c. dark brown sugar
    2 c. sifted flour
    1 1/2 c. buttermilk or sour milk
    1/2 c. chopped candied lemon peel
    1 c. seedless raisins
    2 tsp. ground cinnamon
    1 tsp. ground nutmeg
    1/4 tsp. allspice
    2 tsp. baking soda
Preparation
    Cream butter and add sugar; beat well.
    Add flour (reserving 2 tablespoons) and buttermilk alternately by spoonfuls, stirring steadily.
    Beat well.
