Orange Slice Fruitcake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. plus 2 Tbsp. butter
    2 c. sugar
    4 c. plain flour, sifted
    5 eggs
    1 tsp. salt
    1 1/2 c. buttermilk
    1 Tbsp. vanilla
    1 lb. orange sliced candy
    1/2 lb. (8 oz.) chopped dates
    1 c. flaked coconut
    2 1/2 c. chopped nuts
    1 tsp. soda
Preparation
    Sift
    flour
    and salt together.
    Have butter and eggs at room temperature.
    Slice
    orange
    candy\tto
    6 to 8 pieces per slice. Flour
    dates, candy, coconut and nuts with 1 cup of the flour. Put
    soda in buttermilk; stir.
    Cream butter and sugar, add
    eggs one
    at
    a\ttime, add milk mixture and flour mixture alternately. Add vanilla.
    Fold\tin floured mixture.
    Place in greased brown paper lined and floured tube pan.
    Bake in a 275\u00b0 oven for 2 1/2 hours.
    (May
    turn up temperature to brown last 10 minutes if needed.)
