Gingerbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. melted shortening
    1 egg
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 c. molasses
    1 c. hot water
    2 1/2 c. flour
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. ginger
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
Preparation
    Melt shortening and let it cool. Mix with sugar and egg. Mix in molasses. Alternate hot water with flour and spices. Do not over mix. Cook at 350\u00b0 for 45 minutes to 1 hour. If oven cooks hot, cook at 325\u00b0 for a longer time. Let the bread stand for 15 minutes before removing from the pan. Freezes well.
